The work To Have And To Hold is based out of the childhood play of picking chestnuts and keeping them. I casted 200 hundred chestnuts out of plaster and placed them in blue box with a hole at the top. The concept of the work was that the viewer would stick their hand into the box and tactility choose the one chestnut that they would like for them self. The viewer then could keep the chestnut they choosen and would also get an owner certificate which was a poem. The poem was referring to the childhood play and the way you carry them in your blue jeans as something to hold on to, to keep you safe. To create an emotional monument that you could be carried with you at all time.
